Introduction to the Victorian Airfreight Council

The Victorian Airfreight Council (VAC) is funded by Federal and State Governments and has been established to provide a means for companies and individuals in Victoria to voice opinions, discuss issues and make representations to airlines, regulatory authorities and Governments on issues affecting the airfreight industry locally and nationally.

Our membership of around 200 is drawn from Exporters, Importers, Federal and State Government Departments, Regulatory Authorities, International and Domestic Airfreight Forwarders, Airlines, Cargo Terminal Operators and a variety of other suppliers and interested individuals.

There is no charge to be a member of the VAC but we do ask that you register your details so that we may provide you with information in a timely and accurate manner. Our list of members is not supplied to any other parties.

The VAC Board has representatives from all major industry segments and all positions are honorary.

The VAC's major role is to identify issues critical to the industry and its future growth and formulate positions in support of industry advancement, recognising its importance to the expansion of world trade and economic development, particularly in Victoria. In addition, the VAC takes the industry lead in communicating those positions to governmental, regulatory and other policy making bodies. We work closely with the Australian Freight Council Network, a representative group of freight councils from around Australia. VAC is also represented on the Australian Logistics Council and is a member of the Victorian Transport Industry Round Table.

Some of the issues currently underway are the mapping of Victorian Airfreight process, provision of statistical data for industry, aviation security measures and education and training within the industry.
